Cupcake, Donot, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, Kitkat, Lollipop, Marshmallow...Chill, I am not trying to make you hunger for any of these goodies. There is however something strikingly common to all these. Guess! They are all types of deserts and confections? Well, you are right...
But a tech person will tell you the real answer- They are all Google's android operating system names. Since 2009, Google has named its Android versions after deserts and confections. Have you ever noticed they actually are named alphabetically From C to M ? Now you have.
Google has however named its next android version, Android N!! Are they running out of desserts and confections names?Maybe. The company has decided to settle for this until a suitable confectionary-themed name is decided.
Google is considering using an online poll to choose the name of its next version of Android, Google CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly said at a student forum in New Dehli on Friday (via NDTV).
Which confectionary-themed name that begins with 'N' would you pick for Google?? Natillas for me...Android Natillas 7.0.
Will Google consider creating a new naming theme too, something more exciting, maybe like a 'wonder of the world' or a 'river', anything...2016 will tell us. Watch out.
