Oxford Dictionaries word of the year is famous Emoji "Face With Tears of Joy"

Oxford Dictionaries announced Monday that its Word of the Year for 2015 is the "Face With Tears of Joy" emoji, in a post on its blog. Face With Tears of Joy is the most used emoji globally of 2015, hence its pick by Oxford Dictionaries.

In addition to its blog post, Oxford Dictionaries tweeted out the announcement from its verified account to further give proof of the announcement.

Oxford Dictionaries notes that this is the first time a "pictograph" has been a Word of the Year, which makes sense given the fact that strictly speaking, pictographs aren't words, but rather, symbols representing words. Technical discrepancy aside, Oxford says it picked an emoji because it "best reflected the ethos, mood, and preoccupations of 2015."
Last year, Oxford Dictionaries chose "vape" as the Word of the Year for 2014.
Yaaaay...I use that emoji smiley so so much...what's your favorite emoji smiley?
