A police officer in Los Altos, California, was spotted pulling over one of the autonomous test vehicles near the company's headquarters.
Google imposed a limit on the cars not to exceed a top speed of 25mph for "safety reasons" but that apparently confused the officer.
The police officer obviously didnt understand much about Google's neighborhod electricity vehilces and pulled them over to ask why they were all going so slow".
In a Google+ post the company explained it had capped the speed limit of the vehicles so people don't get scared of them. "We want them to feel friendly and approachable, rather than zooming scarily through neighbourhood streets," Google said.
"After 1.2 million miles of autonomous driving (that's the human equivalent of 90 years of driving experience), we're proud to say we've never been ticketed!"
Well luckily the car got off lightly as speeding tickets being issued for people driving too slowly are not unheard of.
Some states in the USA have laws in place to fine slow drivers up to $1,000, in Abu Dhabi 128 tickets were issued to those going too slow, and in the UK there are powers to fine those too slow long £100.
