Sony Rolls Out Android Marshmallow update
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow gradual release process is still underway, with Sony being the latest to make a push for it in some of their devices. It is rumored that Sony is set to introduce the update to the following devices:
Sony Z5 Premium, Sony C4, Sony M4 Aqua, Sony Z5 Ultra, Sony Z2 Tablet, Sony Z2, Sony Z3+, Sony Z4 Tablet (or Z3 Tablet Compact).
Neurogadget reported that the Sony Z3 and Z3 compact got a Sony concept build for Android 6.0 Marshmallow back last month, which was handed only to the ones who registered for beta testing.
Seeing that the rollout is being done over-the-air, there is no telling how soon the latest Android OS will be available for download.
In the meantime, the devices that are not on the list to get the Marshmallow update will make do with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. The models includes: Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, Sony Z3 Tablet.
Other Sony devices such as the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, Z4 Tablet, C4, M5 will forego the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and jump immediately to Android 6.0 M via the usual OTA update.
There is a fair chance that Sony's Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium will be the first in line to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update which could probably commence as early as this month. Other latest devices will follow before older versions of Sony will get the update.
It is important that when this update becomes available and you want to apply it, stay connected to a very stable WiFi connection and the device should be properly charged to avoid errors that may result from interruption of the update.
